Announcement of the Ethics Advisory Group for COLING’2020

We recognise that a growing concern in our field is of actual/potential/perceived issues of ethics relating to our own work and the work of our colleagues. For this reason, we have established an Ethics Advisory Board of key experts on Ethics in NLP. The PC will consult with them on any paper that has passed the acceptance threshold but which they, ACs or reviewers think may have real, potential or perceived ethical problems. The aim is definitely not to be punitive, but rather to help the authors of any such papers to address such concerns in the final version of their paper. We are most grateful to the members of this group for their willingness to serve our COLING community in this way.
